I think the plume should have been orange-ish or yellowish in color, being of sulfur.

Actually gases ejected from Io's surface appears to be blueish in visible light.

I wonder what kind(s) of gases, as the plume looked only sunlit in those distant pictures.

Yep, the Io-nians don't have weather as we know it, but instead get a daily volcano report with their news.

Not to mention they need to update their GPS unit on a weekly basis, since it is more common than not that the entire neighbourhood literally have been lost.
